Everything the Bible says has power to change us (man) into a Godly person, in righteousness and in sanctification .God expects that in these Last days we have to be sanctified and to be holy.
God is the primary source of our sanctification, because he is the only source of holiness, love and truth. In fact, sanctification is the process of God sharing His life with and through us. The Bible says that Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 1Thessalonians 5:23, 24 (NKJV)

The scriptures also teach us the need for to assume our responsibility for the continuing process of sanctification. Bible says that God with .. His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1: 3, 4 then what must we do for to be sanctified? But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness , to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. . 2 Peter 1: 5 -9(NKJV)

Since sanctification involves the change of our own self, which includes our thinking, our emotions, and our will. When we fail to recognize the spiritual matters we are responsible for, then we set ourselves up for disappointment because we will think that either God is not at work in our lives or we are spiritual failures because things did not go the way we expected. God has done all He needs to do in order for us to live a sanctified Christian life. He has defeated the devil, the power of darkness, forgiven our sins. He has poured the Holy Spirit, and we are now seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenlies. We have to continue the work of Christ on this earth. Does the devil have to flee from us if we do not resist him? Probably not! You cannot be passive about taking your place in Christ. You must do your part. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:14. (NKJV)
