If you are dead with Christ, having been freed from the elementary rules of the world, why then is subject to tradition any longer? the worldly tradition or our culture or our previous religious beliefs, th eir program is simply touch not this or you will be unclean, taste not this for it is unclean, and handle not that it is forbidden. All such things are to perish with the using. They are mere traditions or culture or social practices of men not LAWS of GOD in the new covenant. Therefore, F9 if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations– “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using–according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. Col 2:20 – 23

How are these traditions erected in our minds? the environment which we are raised ,from there we learn language ,world view, attitudes about life, believes….The traditional experiences are that we had in our childhood- such as the family we raised in, the church that we went to, the neighborhoods where we grew up, the communities we belonged to ,the friends we had. The tradition is a negative pattern of thinking that has been burned into our minds by habitual reinforcement these external factors or experiences all had an effect upon our earthly or spiritual development. All these experiences have been stored in our memory. Consequently, all kinds of tradition have been raised up against the knowledge of God. We try and struggle to remove these traditions from our life; we are also confronted with the world system that is not Godly. Bible says we can continue, even as Christians, to allow the world we live in to affect our spiritual life. Bible says Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the
world, and not according to Christ. Col 2:8

It takes time to renew our minds and replace the traditions and the lies we have believed with the truth of God’s word. Yet that should not discourage us from moving forward. The Lord has given us the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth. The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you John 14:17

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13 Also, because we are one with Christ…But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:16

The Bible tells us that we have superior weaponry available to us for winning the battle against tradition For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2Cor 10:3-5
